Step into a cozy dressmaking studio. Cut fabric, sew patterns, and design beautiful custom dresses for your customers. Play Dressmaker free in your browser.
Dressmaker turns garment-making into a calm, tactile ritual. Every commission is a small story — the customer who walks in, the fabric you pick, the dress that grows under your hands.
Step 01
A customer walks in
Each commission begins with a real person. Rose wants workwear for her new librarian job; later townsfolk arrive with wedding dresses, gala frocks, or simple repairs. Read the brief, look at the budget, and listen for the small clues — a colour, a mood, a deadline.
Rose describes her first workwear commission at the shop counter.
Step 02
Design in the sketchbook
The sketchbook is where the dress becomes real. Pick a base pattern, choose fabrics that feel right together, and adjust the bodice, sleeves and skirt until the silhouette matches what you imagined. Try a louder print or an unexpected combination — the customers often surprise you.
Drafting a workwear dress in the sketchbook — pattern, fabric, mood.
Step 03
See the finished dress
When the last stitch drops, the dress appears on the mannequin. Quality, fit and aesthetic all add up to a score that decides whether the customer is happy. Even an imperfect build can be charming in its own way, and the next order is only a cup of tea away.
A finished commission, ready to deliver.
Tips for your first commission
Look at the whole outfit before you commit — a single fabric can read very differently across the full dress.
Trust the second choice as much as the first. The interesting work happens when you change your mind.
Use a larger display if you can — sketchbook arrows and cutting controls reward a steady mouse.
Treat this prototype as a sketchbook of its own: enjoy what is here without expecting every later feature.

Dressmaker FAQ
Browser play, mouse controls, desktop downloads, mobile support, creators, and official releases.
Dressmaker is a cozy dressmaking simulation built by elyaradine and the Free Lives team. You run a small sewing studio, take commissions from townsfolk, and craft dresses by cutting, pinning, and sewing real garment patterns.
Yes — this browser version is completely free with no download required. Click Play Now and the Unity WebGL build streams straight to your tab. The full commercial release with extra content is on Steam.
Mouse and keyboard. Click to pick up fabric and tools, drag to position pattern pieces, and click the sewing machine to stitch. There is no gamepad support yet — the precision fabric work really wants a mouse.
This browser build is desktop-only — the Unity WebGL runtime and precision mouse work need a real computer. The paid Steam release supports Windows, macOS, and Linux. There is no native iOS or Android build yet.
Dressmaker was designed by Ruan Rothmann, Sara Laubscher, Sabrina Becker, and Jonathan Hau-Yoon at Free Lives (the South African studio behind Broforce and Genital Jousting), with original music by Meydan. The browser prototype is by elyaradine.
The Unity WebGL build is roughly 138 MB (framework 0.5 MB, wasm 52 MB, data 92 MB) and may take 10–30 seconds on first load. The page preconnects to the host during idle so the TLS handshake is already done by the time you click Play — and once it has loaded once, your browser caches it. If it stalls, try Chrome / Edge / Firefox, disable ad-blockers on dressmaker.lol, or hard-reload with Ctrl + Shift + R. iPhone Safari is not supported.
